Multi-Select and Bulk File Actions, Explained

Moving or deleting one file at a time is fine for the occasional file. It's miserable for cleaning out a folder of 400 old exports. Here's how to select and act on many files at once instead.

Selecting files

What you can do with a selection

Once files are selected, the available bulk actions cover the same operations you'd use one at a time — just applied to every selected file in one step:

Because every file is individually encrypted with its own IV, a bulk action doesn't mean the server can suddenly see more about your files — it just means your browser is issuing the same per-file API calls in sequence, faster than you could click through them manually.

A practical workflow: cleaning up after a big import

A common pattern after uploading an entire camera roll or project folder: sort by size or date first to group similar files together, select-all or shift-select the ones you don't need, and delete or move them in one action rather than hunting through the full list. Sorting first, then selecting, turns a tedious cleanup into a two-step process.

Bulk delete goes to the Trash

A bulk delete from the website or the app moves everything you selected to the Trash, where it stays for 30 days and can be restored. The "select everything, are you sure" confirmation is still worth reading before confirming — especially with select-all active on a folder you haven't fully checked. Deletions made over WebDAV are permanent and skip the Trash. See renaming, moving and deleting files for how the Trash works.

Manage hundreds of files as fast as one.

Select-all, keyboard shortcuts, and bulk move or delete — all still fully encrypted end-to-end.
